A reader asked:
Which glass pool tile shape would stand the test of time, square 1 x 1 or Rectangle 1×4?
The pool management experts at Continental Pools had some advice:
Tile can be tricky when installed in an outdoor application. Proper installation is vastly more important than the size of the tile being installed. Although minor differences were recorded, we historically have had less maintenance issues with larger tiles as opposed to smaller tiles and mosaics. Commonly the largest tile used is a 6″ x 6″ tile. Installed that’s one single tile placed one after another, and the only joints between the tile are 6 inch vertical joints. So less emphasis should be placed on the actual dimensions of the tile and more emphasis should be spent on ensuring that you have hired a reputable contractor that knows the proper installation methods.
