Reader Shelly asked Decorating Den:

I need color help. Our dining room and living room are wide open to each other. The dining room has brick red walls with dark wood furniture. The living room has medium brown sofas. What colors can I use for spring accents?

Our friends at CertaPro Painters of Westchester had some advice for Shelly:

Choosing colors really depends on the style and lighting of your home. I’m really liking warm rustic orange tones and dusty greenish grays right now. They’d play up the brick and would be a different value than your sofa, which will add depth and variety to the room. Make sure you add print and texture to the space to really bring your room to life.
