Ask A Decorator: Pro Color Pairing Tips

Beige and BlueA reader asked: “My family room is 23×14′, and I have peacock-blue, floor length curtains and beige carpeting. What color would look best on my walls?”

Paula, a residential paint color expert at CertaPro Painters of Bowie, says:  I have found that when working with carpet and wall decorations,  Sherwin Williams shades of beige work best on walls. If you like lighter shades of beige, I recommend SW6106 Kilim Beige. If you’re looking for something with a richer hue, then SW6108 Latte might be more your style. I use these two colors frequently as a main and accent wall. They compliment many ranges of colors in decorating your home. Check out some of our previous work for use of these colors in other homes!

I have just refinished my red oak hardwoods with golden oak stain. What paint color would go best with these floors. I want to use Olyympic or Valspar

What paint color would go best with this comforter sardinia comforter set made by Echo? I have high vaulted ceilings that currently are a beige and the same as the walls. When I paint this bedroom should I also paint the ceiling the same color or change it to an off white?
